Queen's Birthday Honours 2020 announced

Maureen Lipman and David Suchet are amongst those from the arts community recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list 2020.

Recipients of Queen's Birthday Honours List 2020

The Queen's Birthday Honours list were publiushed this week with Maureen Lipman, David Suchet and choreographer Siobhan Davies amongst those awarded the highest acolades on this year's list. On the list Lipman has been made a dame as has Siobhan Davies - Artistic Director od Siobhan Davies Dance. David Suchet and screenwriter Phil Redmond have both recieved knighthoods.

Other theatre names on the list this year are Adrian Lester, Kobna Holbrook-Smith, Polly Stenham and Arinzé Kene.

The Honours List delayed this year due to COVID-19 reflects the times with 28% of all recipients now awarded honours for efforts during the pandemic.

English National Opera costume supervisor Sarah Bowern who led an effort to sew scrubs for NHS workers and Matthew Burrows, who founded the coronavirus fundraising initiative Artist Support Pledge.

The Woman in Black writer Susan Hill and Chair of Mountview Vikki Heywood are both recieveing damehoods. CBE's have been awarded to Marcus Ryder who co-founded the Sir Lenny Henry Centre for Media Diversity, Judy Cramer producer of the worldwide blockbuster Mamma Mia!, actor Adrian Lester, Welsh soprano Rebecca Evans and Mousetrap Theatre Projects founder Susan Whiddington. Former director of Eclipse Theatre Company Dawn Walton and TV writer Sally Wainwright have both recieved OBEs. MBEs went to Kobna Holbrook-Smith who featured in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Misty creator and actor Arinzé Kene and Polly Stenham whose plays include That Face and Miss Julie.
