Guest Reviewer Sue Andrews reviews Flamenco Express presented as part of the Colchester Fringe Festival.
Flamenco Express Colchester Arts Centre, Colchester Fringe Festival 4 Stars Colchester Fringe Festival The atmospheric Colchester Arts Centre hosted Flamenco Express, as part of Colchester Fringe Festival. Imagine being in rural Spain, with a traditional live Spanish vocalist singing from his heart, Antonio El Pola, and a wonderful guitarist, Chris Clavo, and two flamenco dancers who clap out the beats of the music throughout the show. The dancing is raw, heart-felt and passionate. La Joanquina is a very dramatic dancer, feeling the music with all of her being. Juan Carlos Avecilla was the same and was so quick and light on his feet. What a performer, the star of the show for me. I would have liked to have seen them both dance together at the same time, so was still left wanting more.
