Based on the beloved 1993 film starring Robin Williams, Mrs Doubtfire the Musical follows Daniel Hillard, a devoted but out-of-work father who, after losing custody of his children in a divorce, disguises himself as a Scottish nanny to stay close to them. With a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and music by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, the musical brings warmth, comedy, and heart to the West End stage.
The show features spectacular costume transformations that happen right before your eyes, catchy original songs, and a leading performance that captures the spirit of the film while making the role entirely its own. The production is a genuine family crowd-pleaser with laughs for adults and children alike. The choreography is energetic, the set design is inventive, and the emotional core of the story translates beautifully to musical theatre.
Mrs Doubtfire the Musical plays in the West End. Check current listings for venue, performance times, and ticket availability. The show is suitable for all ages, though younger children should be comfortable with a running time of approximately two hours and thirty minutes including an interval. The musical makes an excellent choice for family theatre outings.
For more family-friendly musicals with heart and humour, consider Matilda the Musical for Roald Dahl magic, The Lion King for visual spectacle, or Wicked for a story about acceptance and being true to yourself.
