Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical tickets and regional UK dates

Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical is the Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical and Tony Award winner, now on the UK leg of its World Tour. The show retells the true wartime deception involving a corpse, a forged love letter and Ian Fleming, played as fast-paced comedy. Running time is 2 hours 20 minutes, age guidance 6+.

The story

Set in 1943, the musical is based on a real British intelligence operation that used a dead body carrying fabricated documents to mislead German forces at a critical point in the war. The sources draw a tonal comparison to Singin' in the Rain and Strangers on a Train, billing it as a comic retelling of a stranger-than-fiction secret mission. Ian Fleming's involvement in the real events is woven into the plot.

Awards and tour

The production holds the Olivier Award for Best New Musical and a Tony Award, and played on Broadway before beginning its World Tour. The UK leg has been extended and visits Theatre Royal Glasgow, Milton Keynes Theatre, Sunderland Empire, Theatre Royal Brighton, New Theatre Oxford, Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, The Alexandra Birmingham, Woking Theatre, Grand Opera House York, and Liverpool Empire.
