Moulin Rouge! The Musical is staying put at the Piccadilly Theatre for a while yet. The show has extended its West End booking period to July 2027, as it gets ready to mark five years in London this November, and a fresh set of production photos of the current cast has been released to celebrate.
The stage version of Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film began previews at the Piccadilly on 12 November 2021, so the fifth birthday falls in a matter of days. Producers say the show has now played to more than 14 million theatregoers across 16 productions worldwide.

Booking now runs to July 2027
Tickets are now on sale until July 2027, which covers the anniversary itself, Christmas and the spring and early summer of next year. New weeks of performances are released regularly, so it is worth checking back if your preferred date is not yet showing.
There is a change to the weekly schedule in the new year. From 11 January 2027, Monday and Tuesday evening shows start at 7pm, with Wednesday to Saturday evenings at 7.30pm and matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm.
The current West End cast
Karis Anderson plays Satine, the star of the nightclub, and Alistair Brammer plays Christian, the young American writer who falls for her. They lead a cast that includes James Doherty as Harold Zidler, Daniel Fraser as The Duke, Richard Lloyd King as the painter Toulouse-Lautrec, Ivan De Freitas as Santiago and Lindsey Tierney as Nini.
Nick Len plays Baby Doll, Billie-Kay plays Arabia, Athena Collins plays La Chocolat and Angela Marie Hurst is the alternate Satine. Doherty and Fraser joined in October, and you can read more about the arrivals in our report on the new London cast.

The story and the songs
The story is set in Paris in 1899. Christian meets Satine at the Moulin Rouge and the pair fall hopelessly in love, but the club's host Zidler needs the money of The Duke, a wealthy patron who wants Satine for himself. With his bohemian friends, Christian stages a spectacular new show in an attempt to save the club and win her heart.
Much of the fun comes from the music, which stitches decades of pop hits into one long romance, from Lady Marmalade onwards. Alex Timbers directs, with a book by John Logan, choreography by Sonya Tayeh, and music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements by Justin Levine. Derek McLane designed the sets, which turn the whole of the Piccadilly into a crimson nightclub, and Catherine Zuber the costumes.
Is the show suitable for children?
Age guidance is 12 and over, and the running time is 2 hours 45 minutes including an interval. The theatre is on Denman Street, a short walk from Piccadilly Circus station.
Five years and counting
London is one of several homes for the show at present. A world tour is travelling, a new German staging opens in Hamburg this November, and the show returns to Sydney in March 2027. For a reminder of how the West End staging looked when it first arrived, see our report from its opening.
With an extension secured and the anniversary close, now is the moment to plan a visit before the summer dates fill up. See dates and tickets for Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
