The show
Based on the 1990 film, the musical has direction and choreography by two time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell. The score is by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and the script is by the film's director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton.
Dominic Shaw recreates the direction, with sets by David Rockwell and costumes by Tom Rogers from Gregg Barnes's original Broadway designs. The tour is produced by ATG Productions, Paula Wagner, Nice Productions, LPO, New Regency Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions.
Has it played in the UK before?
Yes. After premiering in Chicago in 2018 and playing Broadway, the musical opened in the West End at the Piccadilly Theatre on 13 February 2020. It moved to the Savoy Theatre from 8 July 2021 and played its final performance there on 18 June 2023, before a sell out UK and Ireland tour from October 2023.
