Six is a pop musical in which the six wives of Henry VIII retell their stories through an 80-minute concert format. The production has won over 35 international awards, including two Tony Awards and two Whatsonstage Awards for Best West End Show, and is touring multiple UK venues.

What the show is

The six wives of Henry VIII, Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr, take to the mic to present their own accounts, framing five centuries of historical heartbreak through a contemporary pop lens. The show runs for 80 minutes and its awards include the Tony Award for Best Original Score and Best Costume Design, two Whatsonstage Awards for Best West End Show, and a Gold Disc for its album.

This production

The touring production visits theatres and arenas across the UK, including Theatre Royal Glasgow, Sunderland Empire, Swansea Building Society Arena and Princess Theatre, Torquay. Production photographs used in marketing may not feature the touring cast, so performers on stage may differ from promotional images.

Audience considerations

The show is recommended for audiences aged 10 and above. It contains adult themes including discussions of miscarriage and personal trauma of a physical and sexual nature. The production also uses strobe effects, theatrical haze and loud music, which is worth noting for anyone with sensitivity to those effects. At Woking Theatre specifically, under-16s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

Access provision varies by venue. Aylesbury Waterside Theatre offers audio description, captioning and BSL interpretation provided by Complete Communication. Bristol Hippodrome has captioned performances provided by Stevie Burrows. Stockton Globe has a BSL-interpreted performance listed.
