The stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman is coming to the West End. Disney Theatrical has confirmed that the show will play the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from spring 2027, and on 15 August 2026 it named the five principals who will lead it. Tickets are not on sale yet, and the producers say they will be released later in the autumn.
That leaves an unusual gap between announcement and on-sale, which is exactly the window in which most of the misinformation about a new musical gets written. So here is what has actually been confirmed, what has not, and what the show's first outing in Bristol can and cannot tell you about it.
What has been confirmed so far
- Venue: Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Catherine Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5JF.
- Timing: spring 2027. No first preview, opening night or booking period has been given.
- Tickets: released later in the autumn, per the producers. No date, no price band.
- Principals: five roles cast, with more casting to come.
- Creative team: unchanged from the world premiere.

When do The Greatest Showman tickets go on sale?
The official answer, from the production's own FAQ, is that tickets "will be released later in the autumn", with a sign-up list running now for presale and on-sale news. No firmer date has been published, and the full performance schedule is described only as coming "soon".
For a title of this size that sequencing is normal: the schedule lands first, the on-sale follows within days. What it means in practice is that anyone hoping to sit in the first few rows of a spring 2027 preview should be watching the autumn, not the spring. The cast announced for Drury Lane
Five principals have been confirmed for the West End run, all of them carried over from the world premiere company:

- Samantha Barks as Charity Barnum
- Ben Joyce as Phillip Carlyle
- Vajèn van den Bosch as Jenny Lind
- Malinda Parris as Lettie Lutz
Casting for Anne Wheeler, a central role in the film and in the Bristol staging, has not been announced for London. Neither has the ensemble, which for a show built around circus work is a bigger piece of the puzzle than it would be for most musicals. Further casting is promised, and as with any long run, casting is subject to change.
What the Bristol run tells you, and what it does not
The Greatest Showman had its world premiere at the Bristol Hippodrome, running from 15 March to 10 May 2026 with tickets from £25. The producers have described it as a sell-out, and the West End transfer is the clearest possible vote of confidence in what they saw there.
Here is the part worth knowing before you read anyone's verdict on it: the Bristol run had no press night. The production declined to be reviewed, so the national critics were never invited and no major outlet carried a verdict on it. Independent blogs and audience reviews from the run do exist, and plenty of them are enthusiastic, but they are not the same thing as a press opening. Declining review coverage is a deliberate choice and an increasingly common one for a tryout that is still being rewritten. It does mean that the confident assessments now circulating rest on a thinner base than they usually would, and that the first time the critics see The Greatest Showman will be at Drury Lane.
What Bristol does tell you is structural. The score keeps the film songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, including "The Greatest Show", "A Million Dreams", "Come Alive", "The Other Side", "Rewrite the Stars", "Never Enough", "Tightrope", "From Now On" and "This Is Me", and adds brand new numbers written for the stage. The book is by Tim Federle. Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs, with music supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, scenic design by David Korins, costumes by Gregg Barnes and Sky Switser, lighting by Natasha Katz and circus design by Lorenzo Pisoni. That is a Broadway-scale team, and the circus credit is the tell: this is not a concert staging of the soundtrack.

Why Theatre Royal Drury Lane is the right room for it
Drury Lane is the West End house that takes one enormous title and keeps it. Its recent history includes large-scale productions such as Miss Saigon, 42nd Street, The Lord of the Rings, The Producers, Shrek the Musical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is a house built for ambitious productions with large companies and complex staging. A show with a live circus in it needs that kind of stage depth and flying capacity, and there are not many rooms in London that have both.
The theatre bills itself as the world's oldest theatre site in continuous use, open since 1663, and it reopened after a major restoration with its Regency rooms and terraces intact. Practically, it is a two-minute walk from Covent Garden station, with Leicester Square close behind and Charing Cross the nearest mainline stop. What is on at Drury Lane before then
Spring 2027 is a long way off, and the theatre is busy in between. Disney's Hercules is the current production and is on sale now. After that the stage goes to The Last Ship for a short autumn run, then to Jesus Christ Superstar, which returns to Drury Lane from October into the new year. The Greatest Showman follows.

Nothing on that list is unusual for an announcement made this far out. It is worth saying plainly, though, because a show with no confirmed dates and no confirmed prices attracts a lot of confident writing that has neither.
How to be ready for the on-sale
There is not much to do between now and the autumn, but the three things worth doing are the three people usually skip and then regret.
First, decide now whether you want a preview or a settled performance. Previews for a show on this scale are genuinely different from the same production three months later: the staging is still being adjusted, and for a musical with live circus in it that is either the whole appeal or precisely what you want to avoid. Knowing which camp you are in before booking opens saves you making that call in a queue.
Second, learn the room before you need to. Drury Lane is a large house on several levels, and the gap between a good seat and a merely available one is wider there than in a small Victorian theatre.
