Production photographs have been released for the 2026/27 UK tour of Private Peaceful, Michael Morpurgo's one-person wartime classic adapted and directed by Simon Reade. Simon Reade cast him after seeing his graduating show earlier in summer 2026. "He was witty, truthful, strong yet vulnerable. I knew at once here was our new Peaceful," Reade said. "Ben was raised in a Dorset village. For him, this really is a story close to home. What an opportunity, for me as much as Ben, to revive Michael's contemporary classic of love and loss - this theatrical celebration of life."

Cain said he is "incredibly excited and grateful" to take on the play and to work with Reade's company, praising a relaxed rehearsal atmosphere from the first audition. Simon Reade's long collaboration with Morpurgo

Reade has been collaborating with Morpurgo since 2004, when they first created the one-person Private Peaceful at Bristol Old Vic. October takes the company to Hull Truck Theatre (1-3 October), Hall for Cornwall in Truro (6-7 October), Theatr Brycheiniog in Powys (8-9 October), Belgrade Theatre in Coventry (12-17 October), Malvern Theatres (21-25 October) and Theatre Royal Wakefield (27-28 October). November includes the Connaught Theatre and Studio in Worthing (11 November) and Curve in Leicester (17-19 November).
