The Story

Fresh out of university and armed with a degree in what he is not quite sure, Princeton arrives on Avenue Q with dreams of finding his purpose in life. He is quickly welcomed by a neighbourhood full of equally confused residents: the enthusiastic Kate Monster, the internet-obsessed Trekkie Monster, the hapless couple Brian and Christmas Eve, and the suspiciously cheerful Gary Coleman. Together they muddle through unemployment, romance, jealousy, and the dawning realisation that nobody really knows what they are doing. The musical follows their journeys with equal parts comedy and genuine emotional honesty, arriving at a conclusion that is wiser than it first appears.

Songs and Score

Created by Robert Lopez, Jeff Marx, and Jeff Whitty, Avenue Q features one of the most quotable and endlessly hummed scores in modern musical theatre.
