Und so kommen wir zum Höhepunkt der zeitgenössischen Opernsektion des Grimeborn Festivals, einem Doppelabend in Form von Peter Maxwell Davies’ "The Medium" und "The Wanton Sublime", ein neues Werk von Tarik O’Regan mit einem Libretto von Anna Rabinowitz. Robert Shaw führte bei beiden Opern Regie, und die Orpheus Sinfonia unter der Leitung von Andrew Griffiths begleitete die zweite Hälfte. Das Haus war ausverkauft in Erwartung eines Abends mit herausragender Musikalität – eine Erwartung, die weitgehend erfüllt wurde.
