RECENSIE: The Medium and The Wanton Sublime, Arcola Theatre ✭✭✭✭
En zo komen we bij het sluitstuk van de hedendaagse opera-sectie van het Grimeborn Festival: een double-bill bestaande uit Peter Maxwell Davies’ The Medium en The Wanton Sublime, een nieuw werk van Tarik O’Regan op een libretto van Anna Rabinowitz. Robert Shaw tekende voor de regie van beide opera's en de Orpheus Sinfonia, onder leiding van Andrew Griffiths, verzorgde de begeleiding in de tweede helft. De zaal was volledig uitverkocht in afwachting van een avond vol muzikaal vakmanschap van de bovenste plank – een verwachting die grotendeels werd ingelost. Sinds 1999 uw vertrouwde bron voor het grootste theaternieuws uit Groot-Brittannië.
