StarKid Productions is bringing its cult favourite The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals to the West End for the very first time, with a complete cast now confirmed for the show's London premiere at the Apollo Theatre.

The musical, which originally debuted online in 2018 and has since racked up over 9.4 million views on YouTube, will play a strictly limited two-week run from 14 to 30 May 2026. This marks StarKid's first full-length production on a West End stage.

What Is The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals About?

The show follows Paul Matthews, an ordinary man whose quiet daily routine is thrown into chaos when a mysterious alien force descends on his town, compelling its residents to burst into song. Think Invasion of the Body Snatchers meets musical theatre, wrapped in StarKid's signature blend of comedy and heart.

The production is directed by Lauren Lopez, with a book by Nick and Matt Lang, music and lyrics by Jeff Blim, and choreography by James Tolbert.

Who Is in the West End Cast?

The London run features a cast drawn largely from StarKid's beloved ensemble. Jon Matteson leads as Paul Matthews, joined by Joey Richter as Ted Spankoffski, Jeff Blim as Sam Sweetly, and Jaime Lyn Beatty as Charlotte Sweetly.

Mariah Rose Faith Casillas takes on the triple role of Melissa, Zoe, and Alice, while Corey Dorris plays Bill Woodward. Director Lauren Lopez also steps onstage as Emma Perkins, with Iván Fernández González as Professor Hidgens. Rounding out the company are Oonagh Cox, Connor Keetley, Emily Ooi, and Davis Weaver.

StarKid's Rise from YouTube to the West End

StarKid first caught the internet's attention back in 2009 with A Very Potter Musical, a fan-made parody that went viral and helped launch the careers of several of its cast members. Since then, the company has built a fiercely loyal online following with a string of original musicals released on YouTube.

The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals was recently revived in California before being confirmed for its UK transfer. StarKid audiences in the UK previously had a taste of the company's live energy at the London Palladium, where the troupe performed It's StarKid Innit in 2024, followed by I Can't Believe It's Been a Little Less Than a Year in 2025.

Performance Schedule and Booking Details

Performances at the Apollo Theatre run Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Sunday performances take place at both 2pm and 7pm.

With a passionate global fanbase and a limited two-week window, demand is expected to be high.

Should You Book?

If you're already a StarKid devotee, this is a rare chance to see one of their most popular shows performed live in the heart of London's West End. And if you're new to the phenomenon, this quirky sci-fi musical comedy is an ideal entry point. With just 14 performances on the schedule, waiting too long could mean missing out entirely. Tickets are expected to move fast, so it's worth securing your seats sooner rather than later.
