The complete West End cast has been confirmed for StarKid's The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals, which will play the Apollo Theatre from 14 to 30 May. The limited run marks the first full-length West End staging for the online theatre company, whose productions have built a devoted global following.

The Cast

Jon Matteson leads as Paul Matthews, a man whose ordinary life is turned upside down when a mysterious alien arrival causes his town to break into spontaneous song. He is joined by Joey Richter as Ted Spankoffski, Jeff Blim as Sam Sweetly, Jaime Lyn Beatty as Charlotte Sweetly, Lauren Lopez as Emma Perkins, and Mariah Rose Faith Casillas as Melissa, Zoe, and Alice.

Completing the company are Ivan Fernandez Gonzalez as Professor Hidgens, Corey Dorris as Bill Woodward, and ensemble members Oonagh Cox, Connor Keetley, Emily Ooi, and Davis Weaver.

From YouTube to the West End

The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals first appeared online in 2018 and has since accumulated over 9.4 million views on YouTube. Its blend of sci-fi comedy, catchy original songs by Jeff Blim, and knowing self-awareness about musical theatre conventions has won it a passionate fanbase that spans well beyond traditional theatregoers.

StarKid previously performed at the London Palladium in 2024 and 2025, but this production represents a step up to a full West End run with performances Tuesday to Sunday. Lauren Lopez directs, with choreography by James Tolbert.

For audiences who enjoy shows that play with the conventions of the form, the musicals category on British Theatre includes plenty of options currently playing across the West End. Browse all shows to see what else is on.
