Marty McFly is a rock 'n' roll teenager whose life is turned upside down when his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown's time machine accidentally sends him back to 1955. Stranded in the past, Marty accidentally prevents his parents from meeting - threatening his very existence. He must find the younger Doc Brown, convince him he's from the future, and somehow get his awkward teenage father to win the heart of his mother, all before returning to 1985.
