This Week in the West End: What to See, 29 June to 5 July 2026

What is on in the West End from 29 June to 5 July 2026: a major new opening, two stars on stage, two closing shows, plus live prices.

The week of 29 June to 5 July 2026 is a week of arrivals and departures. A major American playwright's adaptation opens at Wyndham's, two of the summer's most photographed names are on stage within a few streets of each other, and a pair of limited seasons are counting down their final fortnight. Pulling our live booking data for the week, we count 59 productions on sale across central London, with prices starting from as little as £6 and a median that sits at £31. Here is where we would point you, drawn from what is actually open and confirmed to be playing rather than a fixed list.

New this week: To Kill a Mockingbird at Wyndham's

The headline arrival is Aaron Sorkin's stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, which has just begun performances at Wyndham's Theatre. Richard Coyle returns as Atticus Finch, the role he played to acclaim during the play's earlier West End run, and Bartlett Sher directs. It is a limited season booking through to 12 September, so this is the first full week to catch it. Harper Lee's courtroom drama has lost none of its force, and Sorkin's version gives the children of Maycomb a sharper, funnier voice than you might expect.

Kinky Boots at the London Coliseum

Two stars, a few streets apart

This is a strong week for star casting that is firmly confirmed on stage. At the National Theatre's Lyttelton, Sandra Oh leads The Misanthrope, Martin Crimp's sharp new version of Moliere directed by the National's artistic director Indhu Rubasingham, opposite Tom Mison. It runs until 1 August. A short walk and a river crossing away, the London Palladium has Jesus Christ Superstar, the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre staging that has moved indoors for the summer, with Sam Ryder making his stage debut as Jesus and Jesse Tyler Ferguson among the rotating cast as King Herod. Neither sits in our bookable catalogue this week, so we mention them for the record rather than linking them, but both are genuine events.

Last chance: two limited seasons close on 11 July

Two productions enter their final fortnight this week. Grace Pervades, David Hare's witty love letter to Victorian theatre, plays its closing performances at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on 11 July, with Ralph Fiennes as Sir Henry Irving and Miranda Raison as Ellen Terry; our full review of Grace Pervades explains why it is worth the trip. At the London Coliseum, the strictly limited revival of Kinky Boots also takes its final bow on 11 July. If either has been on your list, this is the week to move.

The long-runners holding firm

Behind the week's comings and goings, the giants keep playing. The Lion King at the Lyceum remains the most-reviewed show in our data and is booking well into 2027. The Phantom of the Opera at His Majesty's, Les Miserables at the Sondheim and Wicked at the Apollo Victoria are all on, as is Hamilton at the Victoria Palace, where the lowest advertised price is a striking £25.

For something newer, Hadestown at the Lyric and The Devil Wears Prada at the Dominion are both running, and Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club continues its immersive residency at the Playhouse. Thriller fans have Stranger Things: The First Shadow, and the wizarding crowd still has Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace. You can see the full picture on our West End listings and browse by genre on the musicals and plays pages.

For families this week

School is not quite out, but the family slate is already busy. Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge and My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne are the two highest-rated family titles in our data, and the studio version of Stick Man is an easy first theatre trip for younger children. For the youngest of all, Peppa Pig's Big Family Show sits among the most accessible prices in town.

If you are weighing how to spend the week, our companion pieces this week dig into the numbers: the best-reviewed shows right now, the best-value tickets, and what is on across the UK beyond London.
