Indicações ao Tony Awards 2020 Anunciadas

Foram anunciadas as nomeações para os Tony Awards 2020, que irão distinguir as produções da Broadway numa temporada encurtada devido à pandemia de COVID-19.

Jagged Little Pill, Moulin Rouge! e Slave Play lideram os nomeados aos Tony Awards 2020, numa edição adiada após uma temporada interrompida pela COVID-19.

James Monroe Iglehart apresentou o anúncio das nomeações esta semana — pode ver o vídeo acima.

Na corrida dos musicais, Jagged Little Pill — o musical de Alanis Morissette — lidera com 15 nomeações. O musical garantiu pelo menos uma nomeação em todas as categorias elegíveis. Moulin Rouge recebeu 14 nomeações. Jagged Little Pill e Moulin Rouge! juntam-se a Tina: The Tina Turner Musical na corrida a Melhor Musical

Na corrida das peças, Slave Play, de Jeremy O. Harris, arrecadou 12 nomeações (o maior número de sempre para uma peça), enquanto The Inheritance, de Matthew Lopez, recebeu 11 nomeações. A acompanhá-las na categoria de Melhor Peça estão Grand Horizons, de Bess Wohl, The Sound Inside, de Adam Rapp, e Sea Wall/A Life, de Simon Stephens e Nick Payne.

Dezoito produções estão na corrida aos Tony Awards 2020, uma vez que a data-limite de elegibilidade foi alterada devido ao encerramento da Broadway a 12 de março, que deverá prolongar-se pelo menos até junho de 2021 e possivelmente além.

Ainda não foi anunciada uma data para a cerimónia virtual dos Tony Awards 2020.
