Overzicht: Geannuleerde kerstvoorstellingen en ontslaggolven binnen de theatersector

Door de overvloed aan berichten over geannuleerde panto's en ontslagen in de theatersector hebben we besloten een dagelijks bijgewerkte lijst bij te houden van de impact op de sector.

De theatersector wordt momenteel geconfronteerd met een van de grootste bedreigingen in haar bestaan, aangewakkerd door de COVID-19-pandemie die de pantomimeseizoenen en werkgelegenheid in gevaar brengt.

Theaters door het hele land zitten midden in grootschalige reorganisatiegesprekken nadat de overheid lang heeft gewacht met het aankondigen van steun voor de cultuursector. Het aantal ontslagen loopt nu snel op doordat de richtlijnen van de overheid zo lang op zich lieten wachten, waardoor het pantomimeseizoen 2020-21 landelijk vrijwel zeker volledig geannuleerd zal worden.

Aangezien het pantomimeseizoen de winsten genereert waarmee theaters hun bedrijfskosten voor het volgende jaar dekken, en door de impact op toeleveranciers en productiebedrijven, dreigt het domino-effect catastrofaal te worden.

Op dit moment vallen meer dan 3.000 freelancers in de theaterwereld tussen wal en schip; zij hebben al meer dan vier maanden geen loonsteun, geen uitkeringen en nauwelijks ondersteuning ontvangen. Dit is een onhoudbare situatie.
