Tony Awards 2019 Nominierungen bekannt gegeben

Die Nominierungen für die Tony Awards 2019 wurden heute bekanntgegeben – Hadestown erhielt die meisten. Der Broadway-Transfer von Jez Butterworths The Ferryman wurde neunmal nominiert.

Hadestown führt das Feld der Tony-Awards-Nominierungen 2019 mit 14 Nennungen an. Dahinter folgt Ain't Too Proud, das Jukebox-Musical über The Temptations, mit 12 Nominierungen. Es folgen Tootsie mit 11 Nominierungen, der britische Import The Ferryman mit 9 sowie Beetlejuice mit 8 Nominierungen. Die diesjährigen Nominierungen werden vermutlich eher wegen ihrer Auslassungen als wegen der aufgenommenen Titel in Erinnerung bleiben. Sowohl Glenda Jackson als auch Nathan Lane gingen in den Kategorien der Hauptdarsteller leer aus – für King Lear beziehungsweise Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus. Ebenfalls nicht berücksichtigt wurden To Kill A Mockingbird und Network, die beide als sichere Kandidaten für die Kategorie „Best Play“ galten.

Die Nominierungen wurden heute Morgen von Brandon Victor Dixon und Bebe Neuwirth bekanntgegeben.

Die 73. Tony-Awards-Gala wird am 9. Juni 2019 in der Radio City Music Hall stattfinden und von James Corden moderiert.
