Annunciate le Nomination ai Tony Awards 2019

Le candidature ai Tony Awards 2019 sono state annunciate oggi, con Hadestown a guidare la classifica. Il trasferimento a Broadway di The Ferryman di Jez Butterworth ha ottenuto nove candidature.

Hadestown è in cima alla classifica delle candidature ai Tony Awards 2019 con 14 nomination; al secondo posto con 12 c’è Ain't Too Proud, il jukebox musical sui The Temptations. Seguono Tootsie con 11 candidature, l’importazione britannica The Ferryman con 9 e Beetlejuice con 8. Le candidature di quest’anno saranno ricordate più per le esclusioni che per le inclusioni. Sia Glenda Jackson sia Nathan Lane sono stati ignorati, rispettivamente per King Lear e Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus, nelle categorie di miglior attore protagonista. Tra gli esclusi anche To Kill A Mockingbird e Network, entrambi dati per favoriti nella categoria di Miglior Opera.

Le candidature sono state annunciate questa mattina da Brandon Victor Dixon e Bebe Neuwirth.

La 73ª edizione dei Tony Awards sarà presentata da James Corden al Radio City Music Hall il 9 giugno 2019.
