Nomeações para o Tony Awards 2019 Anunciadas

As nomeações para os Tony Awards 2019 foram anunciadas hoje, com Hadestown a arrecadar o maior número de nomeações. A transferência para a Broadway de The Ferryman, de Jez Butterworth, recebeu nove nomeações.

Hadestown lidera a tabela de nomeações dos Tony Awards 2019 com 14 nomeações, seguido por Ain't Too Proud, o musical de jukebox sobre os The Temptations, em segundo lugar com 12 nomeações. A seguir surgem Tootsie com 11 nomeações, a importação britânica The Ferryman com 9 nomeações e Beetlejuice com 8 nomeações. As nomeações deste ano serão recordadas mais pelas omissões do que pelas inclusões. Tanto Glenda Jackson como Nathan Lane ficaram de fora por King Lear e Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus, respetivamente, nas categorias de protagonista. Também foram omitidas To Kill A Mockingbird e Network, que eram ambas esperadas na categoria de Melhor Peça.

As nomeações foram anunciadas esta manhã por Brandon Victor Dixon e Bebe Neuwirth.

A 73.ª cerimónia dos Tony Awards será apresentada por James Corden no Radio City Music Hall, a 9 de junho de 2019.
