In tempi moderni, tra le produzioni di successo figurano No Sex Please We’re British del 1982, che andò in scena per quattro anni prima di essere trasferito al Duchess Theatre, An Inspector Calls del 1995 (un trasferimento di successo dal National Theatre), e One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest del 2006, interpretato dall'attore cinematografico Christian Slater. Recentemente, il teatro ha ospitato una serie di musical, come A Little Night Music nel 2007, Loserville nel 2012 e Rock of Ages nel 2013. History

Financed by W. S. Gilbert and named after influential Shakespearean actor David Garrick, the Garrick Theatre opened on 24 April 1889. One of its early successes was the comedy A Pair of Spectacles which opened in 1890 and ran for five years. After the follow-up production The Notorious Mrs. Ebbsmith, the theatre suffered a period of decline.

Leased by Arthur Bourchier, the theatre began staging successful productions once more, such as J. M. Barrie’s The Wedding Guest in 1900 and Rutland Barrington’s The Water Babies in 1902. These productions would continue through various management changes that would eventually leave the theatre unemployed between 1939 and 1941. When actor-singer-dancer Jack Buchanan began managing the theatre in 1947, the theatre began presenting a string of highly successful comedies.

After a refurbishment between 1965-66, the theatre found itself under threat by the GLC proposed redevelopment of Covent Garden in 1968. The Save London Theatres Campaign successfully led to the abandonment of the scheme. In modern times successful productions have included 1982’s No Sex Please We’re British, which ran for four years before transferring to the Duchess Theatre, 1995’s An Inspector Calls (a successful transfer from the National Theatre), and 2006’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, starring film actor Christian Slater.

The theatre has recently seen a string of musicals take residence in the theatre, such as A little Night Music in 2007, Loserville in 2012, and Rock of Ages in 2013.

THE PRODUCERS WOW 🤣🤣🤣. We have not laughed so much in ages. Such a brilliant performance from all of the cast. The constant subtle and not so subtle parts were hilarious. Mel Brooks film The Producers was very funny and if you liked that then you will love the stage production it really is above par. Can not recommend it enough. Very cosy comfortable theatre, lovely staff , non stop laughter what more could you ask for.

I went today to see the show The Producers. It was an excellent, must see event. Hilarious, rude and outrageous. Worth every penny. I've seen 6 West End shows this year, and it was one of the best.

The Garrick Theatre is a beautifully restored theatre, with comfortable seats with enough leg room for a 6ft tall person. The stalls bar is a little small but the queue is well managed. The current production of The Producers is outstanding. Ok the content won't be approved by everyone all but take it for what it is: entertainment and it's 5* The cast is awesome, a laugh a minute show, a slightly camp riot of fun.

Came here to see The Producers. The show itself is so funny and bald. The stage design is fabulous when they do the spring time in Germany part. However, I could hear the tube running every five mins. I was sitting on the ground floor seat. And there are very little female toilets.
