Brighton Fringe maakt de awardwinnaars van 2017 bekend

De productie van Urinetown van Brighton Little Theatre

De meest opvallende voorstellingen en artiesten van het Brighton Fringe van dit jaar zijn bekendgemaakt tijdens de jaarlijkse prijsuitreiking van het festival.

Onder de 24 uitgereikte prijzen bevonden zich winnaars als de productie van de musical Urinetown (op de foto) door de Brighton Little Theatre Company, Ingo’s War van Ditto Theatre Company, Bug Camp van Broken Silence Theatre door Paul Macauley en de productie van Steven Berkoffs Agamemnon door Windmill Young Actors.

De kindervoorstelling The Tale of the Cockatrice van Mumblecrust Theatre sleepte twee prijzen in de wacht: Voice’s Best Newcomer to Brighton Fringe en de International Youth Arts Festival (IYAF): Best of Brighton Fringe Children and Family Show.

Andere winnaars zijn onder meer Cinebra: A History of Horror, dat £2.500 won om op tournee te gaan naar een internationaal Fringe-festival als onderdeel van de Pebble Trust International Touring Award.

Teatro Pomodoro won eveneens de kans om in het buitenland op te treden. Het gezelschap, dat deel uitmaakte van het Brighton Fringe Window-programma voor uitzonderlijk nieuw werk, is geselecteerd om volgend jaar naar twee Fringes te toeren in het "Nordic network" van Bergen, Göteborg, Reykjavik en Stockholm.
