Podivný případ se psem a Hamilton kralovali cenám Drama Desk

Produkce Národního divadla (National Theatre) Podivný případ se psem ovládla předávání cen Drama Desk Awards, kde získala šest ocenění včetně kategorií Nejlepší hra, Nejlepší herec v hlavní roli a Nejlepší režisér. Úspěšnější byl pouze Hamilton, nový muzikál Lin-Manuela Mirandy, který si odnesl sedm cen, což je od roku 1983 (kdy uspěl Little Shop Of Horrors) poprvé, kdy off-broadwayská produkce porazila své broadwayské konkurenty. Helen Mirren získala cenu pro nejlepší herečku za svůj výkon ve hře The Audience (Audience u královny). Jim Dale a jeho one-man show Just Jim Dale, která se momentálně hraje v Londýně, zvítězila v kategorii Nejlepší revue.

Ceny Drama Desk Awards jsou udíleny každoročně v řadě kategorií a představují jediné významné newyorské divadelní ocenění, v němž spolu v rámci jedné kategorie soupeří produkce z Broadwaye, Off-Broadwaye i Off-Off Broadwaye. Organizaci založila v roce 1949 skupina newyorských divadelních kritiků, editorů a novinářů s cílem vzdělávat veřejnost v zásadních otázkách týkajících se divadelního umění.
