The Curious Incident i Hamilton wielkimi zwycięzcami Drama Desk Awards

Produkcja National Theatre „Ciekawy przypadek psa nocną porą” zdobyła sześć nagród Drama Desk Awards, w tym dla najlepszej sztuki, najlepszego aktora i najlepszego reżysera. Spektakl wyprzedził jedynie „Hamilton” – nowy musical Lin-Manuela Mirandy, który zgarnął siedem statuetek. To pierwszy przypadek od 1983 roku (od czasu „Krwiożerczej rośliny”), kiedy przedstawienie typu Off-Broadway pokonało swoich broadwayowskich konkurentów. Helen Mirren zdobyła tytuł najlepszej aktorki za rolę w spektaklu The Audience. Monodram Jima Dale'a Just Jim Dale, wystawiany obecnie w Londynie, zwyciężył w kategorii najlepsza rewia.

Nagrody Drama Desk Awards, przyznawane corocznie w wielu kategoriach, są jedynymi liczącymi się wyróżnieniami teatralnymi w Nowym Jorku, w których produkcje z Broadwayu, Off-Broadwayu i Off-Off Broadwayu rywalizują ze sobą w tej samej kategorii. Organizacja została założona w 1949 roku przez grupę nowojorskich krytyków teatralnych, redaktorów, reporterów i wydawców, a jej celem jest edukowanie społeczności w istotnych kwestiach dotyczących teatru.
