Storslam för Curious Incident och Hamilton vid Drama Desk Awards

Foto: Joan Marcus National Theatres uppsättning av The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time tog hem sex priser vid Drama Desk Awards, inklusive Bästa pjäs, Bästa manliga huvudroll i en pjäs och Bästa regi av en pjäs. Den besegrades endast av Hamilton, den nya musikalen av Lin-Manuel Miranda som vann sju priser – första gången sedan 1983 (med Little Shop Of Horrors) som en Off-Broadway-föreställning slår sina Broadway-konkurrenter. Helen Mirren utsågs till Bästa kvinnliga huvudroll i en pjäs för sin roll i The Audience. Jim Dales enmansshow Just Jim Dale, som för närvarande spelas i London, vann kategorin Bästa revy.

Drama Desk Awards delas ut årligen i ett antal kategorier och är den enda stora teaterutmärkelsen i New York där produktioner på Broadway, Off-Broadway och Off-Off Broadway tävlar mot varandra i samma kategori. Organisationen grundades 1949 av en grupp teaterkritiker, redaktörer, reportrar och förläggare i New York, och skapades för att sprida kunskap till samhället om viktiga frågor rörande teatern.
