Curious Incident e Hamilton são os grandes vencedores do Drama Desk

Foto: Joan Marcus A produção do National Theatre de The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time arrecadou seis prémios Drama Desk, incluindo Melhor Peça, Melhor Ator numa Peça e Melhor Encenação de uma Peça, sendo superada apenas por Hamilton, o novo musical de Lin-Manuel Miranda que venceu sete prémios — a primeira vez desde 1983 que um espetáculo Off-Broadway (Little Shop Of Horrors) supera os seus concorrentes da Broadway. Helen Mirren venceu o prémio de Melhor Atriz numa Peça pela sua interpretação em The Audience. O espetáculo a solo de Jim Dale, Just Jim Dale, atualmente em cena em Londres, venceu o prémio de Melhor Revue.

Os Drama Desk Awards, atribuídos anualmente em várias categorias, são as únicas grandes distinções teatrais de Nova Iorque em que produções da Broadway, Off-Broadway e Off-Off Broadway competem entre si na mesma categoria. Criada em 1949 por um grupo de críticos, editores, repórteres e editores de publicações de teatro de Nova Iorque, a organização foi fundada para informar a comunidade sobre questões essenciais relacionadas com o teatro.
