Ganadores revelados en los premios del Vault Festival 2020

Hoy se han anunciado los ganadores de los premios anuales del Vault Festival 2020 en Londres.

El festival estaba previsto que terminara hoy, pero cerró una semana antes debido a la pandemia de coronavirus. En lugar de una ceremonia, los ganadores de los Vault Festival 2020 Awards se dieron a conocer en redes sociales por los fundadores Mat Burtcher y Andy George, y por la responsable de teatro y performance, Bec Martin-Williams.

El People’s Choice Award fue para Stages: A Video Game Musical, escrito por Chris Czornjy y producido por Adam Lenson Productions. En cartel en Vault del 3 al 8 de marzo, contó con las estrellas del teatro musical Anna Jane Casey y Andrew Langtree, junto a Aitch Wylie y Max Alexander-Taylor.

El Innovation Award fue para The Grim, el espectáculo inmersivo site-specific de Quietly Fighting Theatre (del 4 al 16 de febrero), que convertía al público en “segadores” freelance que trabajaban para la Oficina de la Parca.

El After Dark Award, para producciones destacadas del programa nocturno, fue para Séayoncé’s Comedy Vault, un show de comedia, cabaret y drag presentado por Daniel Wye y The Good Witch, descrito como “una noche de excelencia queer y picardía espiritual”.

El Spirit Award, para compañías que encarnan el espíritu y el ideario del festival de creatividad, cooperación y amabilidad, fue para Sound Cistem de Plaster Cast Theatre (del 29 de enero al 6 de febrero), una “celebración queer” y “fiesta de baile” que cuestiona la mirada cisgénero sobre el cuerpo trans.

También hubo premios semanales a Show of the Week y el Origins Award al mejor trabajo nuevo. A continuación encontrarás la lista completa de ganadores y nominados.

Más de 2.700 artistas presentaron 519 producciones diferentes ante más de 73.000 espectadores durante las siete semanas del festival, del 28 de enero al 15 de marzo. Esta cifra no incluye las 97 producciones que no pudieron llevarse a cabo esta semana.

Este año el festival presentó más trabajos liderados por mujeres, personas racializadas, personas con discapacidad, artistas LGBTQ+ y personas de clase trabajadora.

Burtcher afirmó: “Es un momento muy difícil y aterrador para todo el mundo, pero queríamos parar un instante para celebrar y reconocer parte del duro trabajo y los grandes espectáculos que han formado parte del Vault Festival 2020”.

Martin-Williams añadió que “aunque estamos destrozados por haber tenido que cerrar el festival antes de tiempo, seguimos pensando que los artistas y compañías increíbles que presentaron su trabajo y reunieron a la gente durante siete de nuestras ocho semanas merecen reconocimiento y ser celebrados por sus logros extraordinarios”.
