Ogłoszono pełną listę nominacji do nagród Tony 2018. Na czele stawki znalazły się musicale „SpongeBob SquarePants” oraz „Mean Girls”, a spore powody do dumy mają Brytyjczycy – liczne nominacje powędrowały do artystów i produkcji z Wysp.

Galę wręczenia nagród Tony, która odbędzie się 10 czerwca, poprowadzą Sara Bareilles i Josh Groban.

Jeśli chodzi o akcenty brytyjskie, produkcja National Theatre „Angels In America” (Anioły w Ameryce) zdobyła aż 11 nominacji (stając się najczęściej nominowaną sztuką w historii Tony), a sceniczny hit „Harry Potter i Przeklęte Dziecko” otrzymał dziesięć nominacji.

Gwiazda brytyjskich musicali, Gavin Lee, został nominowany w kategorii najlepszy aktor w musicalu (rola drugoplanowa).
